The Chest Nuts are thrilled to be here in Florence with all of our
international paddling sisters! Our team functions as a support
group, an outlet for exercise and camaraderie, a contributor to
improving the lives of others in our community and, oh yes, we race
dragon boats! Born from the vision of a few survivors eight years
ago, we have grown to a steadfast core of 25 members. We range
in age from our 30’s to our 80’s.
Located in beautiful Arnprior, in the historic Ottawa Valley we
practise on scenic White Lake, cheered on by the calls of loons and
the cries of hawks wheeling overhead. Our paddling season is short
and we often endure cold, rain and inclement weather in general,
but we are always warmed by the close knit nature of our team. Lifelong
friendships carry us through, and we are driven by our motto:
“We are always first in our lane!”
